non-swimming warning sign put up at Woody Cape beach where Alice and Summer drowned in 2014
20/11/2016
SANPARKS put up a non-swimming sign at Woody Cape on the Eastern Coast of SA, to remember Alice Barnett, 19, and Summer Robertson, 21, who died after drowning in a rip current as they waded in the Indian Ocean just four days before returning home to the UK from a 10 weeks volunteering project in SA.

This project was run by Lattitude, a UK government-funded international youth development charity. The sign has been financed by Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) , the charity which oversees voluntary scheme partners funded by the Department for International Development (DfID). Mrs Suzie Barnett, mother of Alice, was the driving force behind this action.
