The phenomenon of holiday drowning, which is drowning of tourists, who are by definition unfamiliar with the local conditions of the sea at their destination and who bring along only their experience from their homeland, was brought to my knowledge for the first time by Mr. John Connolly, chairman of Irish Lifesaving Foundation. In the mean time we have met already several times and I have been invited to give a presentation at the Lifesaving Foundation Conference in 2013. I want to recommend to have a look at the website of the Irish Lifesaving Foundation, in particular at the information sheets.
