2019 ILS World Conference on Drowning
06/09/2016
Today the International Lifesaving Federation (ILS) announces the World Conference on Drowning in 2019 will take place in Durban, South Africa, from 8 to 10 October.
This is eight years after Safe Coastal Tourism has been invited by Lifesaving South Africa (LSA) to its annual meeting which BTW also took place in Durban in October, to speak about its experiences. There we expressed our concern about the issue of drowning of tourists off the South African coast and the disinterest of touristic sector towards this issue, which we experience still today. We are grateful for this decision of ILS as we hope the conference will encourage touristic sector to become interested in drowning prevention and lifesaving of tourists.
